The former President of the African giant (Nigeria) Olusegun Obasanjo went to Cotonou on Monday, August 2nd, 2021. Objective, presenting his condolences to the SOGLO’s family and to attend the funeral of the late exceptional politician, Rosine Soglo, called to Glory on Sunday, July 25th, 2021.
After signing the condolence book, the personal friend and counterpart of Nicéphore Soglo (former President of Benin), spoke to the press.

“President Soglo is an elder. And when the news of the death of his dear wife reached him, I was one of the very first people he called from Paris, all in tears to inform me. I didn’t know he was in Paris. Immediately, I said: « if you are back in Benin, I will come immediately ».
He told me he was in Paris. Immediately, I asked him when he would return to Benin. He told me, as fast as he could make the reservations. At the moment, I was on my way to Zanzibar. I went to Zanzibar, then to Addis Ababa, then to Cameroon. I had not maintained contact with my older brother. I thought he had already returned to Benin. So I decided to stay here. I called him yesterday morning to tell him that I was on my way to Benin. He told me he was still in Paris. It was too late for me to change my flight itinerary.
So I will still go to Benin, visit the house and I will wait until the final preparations for the burial of this great lady, this great nationalist who had served her family, her community and her nation.  »
